I am intrigued by the smoothness of skin on the Meyer lemons. Do you know why their skin is so smooth? They’re putting my pith-heavy, craggy skinned, big box store lemons to shame.
There’s something I can barely discern or describe about a soup with bok choy and tofu that I had about a million years ago. It was the simplest dish (the broth didn’t seem complex at all), yet it has stayed with me because it felt so complete. Every ingredient was precisely what I expected it to be.
I feel like the best food is what stays with you. Enticing in its mystery or beguiling in its simplicity, it makes a place and refuse to let you be.

Art as that which makes a place for itself and refuses to let us be?
